PM to review Imp-Jiri road

IMPHAL, Apr 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi would personally review work progress of Imphal-Jiribam highway which is being repaired by the National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).

The State Government led by Chief Minister N Biren has already issued strict instruction to make the highway traffic worthy by the end of the current month.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi would hold a video conference with the State Chief Secretary and PWD officials on April 26 and review work progress of the highway which is around 220 Kms long, informed a source.

Subsequent upon Chief Minister N Biren’s strict instruction, NHIDCL has been reportedly making good progress on the highway.

NHIDCL has also been making good progress toward construction of new Barak and Makru bridges with RCC. Moreover, the CRPF camp located near the two bridges have been shifted to a suitable alternative site.

Letter of Award for construction of the two bridges have been allotted to the Bhartiya Infra Project Limited.

After dividing the 220 Kms long highway into three sections, three private firms have been already roped in to develop the highway.

Meanwhile, the State PWD which has been monitoring the highway development work has constituted a task force with the Additional Chief Engineer (Highway) as its head.

The task force has been supervising the highway development work twice in a week and they have been furnishing photographs of the highway development work to the Government regularly, added the source.
