Barak Fest concludes with fanfare

IMPHAL | May 23 The two-day Barak Spring Festival with the theme, ‘Reclaiming the Responsibilities’ concluded today amidst the sound of traditional instruments of different tribes of the Senapati district.

A release said the closing function was attended by Maj Gen U Suresh Kumar, GOC 57 Mountain Division and Athem Muivah, DC Senapati as the chief guest and guest of honour respectively.

Speaking at the closing function, Athem said the relevance of the theme ‘Reclaiming the Responsibilities’ is immense in today’s society and urged to include the younger generations specially the students to involve them in preserving the environment, it said. He also congratulated the organiser, Naga People’s Organisation for successfully organising the festival with limited resources in hand, it added.

Further the release said, in his speech the chief guest, Suresh Kumar pointed out that the festival is a testimony of the rich culture and love that binds the different tribes of the state. He congratulated the organisers and said, “The army belongs to you and is committed to bring a peaceful and prosperous state”.
