Cancer, mental hospitals in pipeline

Imphal, May 26 : State Health Society, National Health Mission, Manipur today organised a one day advocacy cum discussion on National programmes under NHM, Manipur with media fraternity with the theme “Learning Together: For a Sustainable Development Goal’ at Classic Hotel, North AOC, Imphal.

Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar; Parliamentary Secretary (Health and FW) S Subhashchandra and Commissioner (Health &FW) PK Singh attended the programme as the chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.

Speaking at the occasion, Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar Singh said that it is human nature to want development. In its attempt to lead the Nation to the path of development, the Govt of India has set up different departments. Saying that the right to life is one of the most important rights guaranteed by the Constitution, L Jayantakumar stressed the need to protect and safeguard it. While also pointing out that the society is changing, the Minister stressed the need to adapt to change.

Observing that people of the State have faced many problems while treating cancer patients, the Minister said the Government has been working towards setting up of a cancer hospital and a mental hospital in the State.

Jayantakumar further urged all concerned to extend cooperation to the Government.
