IMPHAL: A Single Bench of High Court of Manipur on Wednesday passed an order that delinked the bench from the petition filed by 2nd IRB commandant Dr Akoijam Jhalajit Singh, challenging the CBI charge in connection with the BT road firing incident.

While decreeing that the petition may be placed before any other Bench, the Single Bench of
Justice N Kotiswar Singh, however, stated that earlier interim order will be processed under its ambit.

Justice Kotiswar also advised the court’s registry to put forth the matter before the Chief Justice for necessary orders to enlist the case before the appropriate Bench.

It may be mentioned that Dr Jhalajit had challenged the February 14 order passed by the High Court that gave liberty to the CBI to proceed with further investigation in connection with the firing case.

On the other-hand, the interim ordered passed by Justice Kotiswar mentioned in clear terms that Dr Jhalajit should be subjected to interrogation pending disposal of the petitioner’s plea.
