Works Minister vows to activate Tml Mini Secretriat

IMPHAL, May 9 : Taking serious note that the Tamenglong Mini-Secretariat still remains non-functional even though it was inaugurated on November 3, 2011 by the then Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, Works Minister Th Biswajit has pledged that the mini-secretariat would be made fully functional by 2018.

The Works Minister made this assurance after inspecting the mini-secretariat complex today.
The mini-secretariat offices were found not electrified while many window and door panes were found broken.

With the entire complex left to its own, it was reportedly used by youngsters as a convenient place for merry making and abuse of intoxicating substances. The building was found leaky and cracks were seen in some portions.

After making direct assessment of the complex, the Works Minister assured that the complex would be renovated and all necessary infrastructure would be installed at the cost of Rs 50-60 crore.

He also appealed to all Government employees, particularly those posted in hill areas to attend their offices regularly.

Biswajit asked all the people who have been reportedly occupying Government quarters at Tamenglong district headquarters in unauthorised manner to vacate the quarters.
Noting that funds sanctioned for construction of the mini-secretariat had been withdrawn even though the same complex was found incomplete, the Works Minister asserted that all those involved in swindling public money without properly executing works allotted to them would be penalised after due investigation.

Earlier, the Works Minister inspected the construction work of Imphal-Khongsang-Tamenglong road and he was peeved with the way the road was being constructed.
Minister Biswajit was enraged by the absence of contractors and engineers at the work sites.
Apart from stalling the work portions which were found executed by totally neglecting the qualitative aspect, Biswajit has convened the concerned contractors and engineers to a meeting tomorrow to discuss the same matter.

The Works Minister was accompanied by Tamenglong AC MLA Samuel Jendai PWD Chief Engineer, Tamenglong DC, other PWD and MSPDCL officials.
