Imphal, June 12 2017: A powerful Improvised Explosive Device planted by unknown person (s) was found near the entrance of Manipur Motors, Mantripukhri under Heingang police station, Imphal East today morning.
On receiving information that a tiffin box suspected to be containing explosive devices had been spotted near a drain around five meters form the entrance of Manipur Motors, a team of Heingang police rushed to the spot at around 9.15 am.
Shortly, a bomb disposal squad was called in. When the tiffin box was checked, a powerful IED weighing around 6 kg was found planted in it.The tiffin box contained two RDX slabs, 12 TNT matchers, three circuits and four detonators. Later, the bomb was defused safely at Pangei firing range.
A case has been registered in the police station concerned and investigation is on.
