Hair samples suspected to of the culprit/s in the murder of the two women were found in the hands of one of the dead women.
According to a highly reliable source, during the inquest of the bodies, some hair suspected to be of the culprit(s), were found in the hand of the deceased victim Monika and it is highly suspected that she might have been physically assaulted before she was killed as some bruise marks were also found on her face.
Police are looking from every angle to solve the case and put the culprit(s) behind bars and to give befitting punishment according to the law.
The source pointed out that Imphal West district police have tied up with the State forensic expert team and other departments concerned of the State to solve the case.
As a part of the investigation, finger prints and hair samples of all those who were pulled up by the police were collected, it added.
Meanwhile the People’s Action Committee formed against the murder of Soram Lakhipyari and Monika, while informing that it will not claim the dead bodies till tomorrow, urged the State Government to establish a fast track Court to deal cases of crime against women as assured.
Speaking at mediapersons at Manipur Press Club, PAC convenor Hijam Bikramjit said, “We did not meet the Chief Minister yesterday. So the memorandum was submitted to the Deputy Chief Minister. Today at around 10.30 am, representatives of PAC held a meeting with the Chief Minister N Biren, Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar, DGP and SP.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister assured to set up a fast track Court at the earliest in order to deal cases of crimes against women. The Chief Minister also said that the approval of the High Court is required to set up the fast track Court.”
Bikramjit said that the State Government should at least take up a concrete step by tomorrow afterwhich the PAC and CSOs will decide further course of action.
