KOHIMA, June 1 (NEPS): The ruling NPF Party’s dream to see that Chief Minister Dr. Shurhozelie win unopposed in the coming by-election of the 10 Northern Angami-I Assembly Constituency shattered as Kekhrie Yhome, a young outspoken and educationist, declared that he would give a fight against the former.

Addressing a Press Conference here at Hotel Aurora on Thursday, Yhome appeared to be fully aware of the whole political scenario of the present DAN Government headed by Chief Minister Dr. Shurhozelie, who hails from Kohima Village. He had a lot of ideas to not only face the veteran giant politician in the by-election but also to fight the present situation in the State with his “New thinking.”

Former Assistant Professor of the University of Delhi, Yhome, son of Vi-o Yhome, also hailing from the Kohima Village, minced no words by stating that the State had three Chief Ministers in a span of four years and a “speculative hobnobbing for a fourth one still looms large.”

This fearless and outspoken young educationist had confidence that only the “dynamics of young and astute energies can challenge the old pettiness and money-minded politics” that had forever retarded their minds and “outdated attitudes towards growth and change.” And he was in that element to fight, he proudly stated.

Yhome married Yirmiyan Shangshakwoshi Arthur, daughter of AS Arthur, former Manipur Minister. AS Arthur served as Secretary of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly before joining politics in Manipur. AS Arthur’s son, Alfred Kanngam Arthur, is the present Congress MLA from Ukhrul Assembly Constituency.
