Robert Arthur “Bob” Moog (May 23, 1934 – August 21, 2005), founder of Moog Music, was an American pioneer of electronic music, best known as the inventor of the Moog synthesizer.

Bob Moog’s innovative electronic design is employed in numerous synthesizers including the Minimoog Model D, Minimoog Voyager, Little Phatty, Moog Taurus Bass Pedals, Moog Minitaur, the Animoog ios app, and the Moogerfooger line of effects pedals.

Life

A native of New York City, Moog attended the Bronx High School of Science in New York, graduating in 1952. Moog earned a bachelor’s degree in physics from Queens College, New York in 1957, another in electrical engineering from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in engineering physics from Cornell University. Moog’s awards include honorary doctorates from Polytechnic Institute of New York University (New York City) and Lycoming College (Williamsport, Pennsylvania)

During his lifetime, Moog founded two companies for manufacturing electronic musical instruments. He also worked as a consultant and vice president for new product research at Kurzweil Music Systems from 1984 to 1988, helping to develop the Kurzweil K2000. He spent the early 1990s as a research professor of music at the University of North Carolina at Asheville.

Moog received a Grammy Trustees Award for lifetime achievement in 1970. In 2002, Moog was honored with a Special Merit/Technical Grammy Award, and an honorary doctorate degree from Berklee College of Music.

He gave an enthusiastically-received lecture at the 2004 New Interfaces for Musical Expression (NIME-04), held in Hamamatsu, Japan’s “City of Musical Instruments”, in June, 2004. Moog was the inspiration behind the 2004 film Moog.

Moog’s first wife was Shirleigh Moog (née Shirley May Leigh), a grammar school teacher whom he married in 1958. The couple had three daughters (Laura Moog Lanier, Michelle Moog-Koussa, Renee Moog) and one son (Matthew Moog) before their divorce. Moog was married to his second wife Ileana Grams, a philosophy professor, for nine years until his death. Moog’s stepdaughter, Miranda Richmond, is Grams’s daughter from a previous marriage. Moog also had five grandchildren.

Moog was diagnosed with a glioblastoma multiforme brain tumor on April 28, 2005. Nearly four months later, he died at the age of 71 in Asheville, North Carolina on August 21, 2005. The Bob Moog Foundation was created as a memorial, with the aim of continuing his life’s work of developing electronic music.

What is Mothers Day?

Mother’s Day is a celebration that honours mothers and motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in March, April, or May. It complements Father’s Day, a celebration honoring fathers.

Celebrations of mothers and motherhood occur throughout the world. Many of these trace back to ancient festivals, like the Greek cult to Cybele, the Roman festival of Hilaria, or the Christian Mothering Sunday celebration. However, the modern holiday is an American invention and not directly descended from these celebrations.

Despite this, in some countries Mother’s Day has become synonymous with these older traditions.

Howard Carter (9 May 1874 – 2 March 1939) was an English archaeologist and Egyptologist, noted as a primary discoverer of the tomb of Tutankhamun.

Howard Carter was born in London, England, the son of Samuel Carter, a skilled artist, who trained him to follow in his footsteps, and Martha Joyce (Sands) Carter.

In 1891, at the age of 17, a talented young artist, he was sent out to Egypt by the Egypt Exploration Fund to assist Percy Newberry in the excavation and recording of Middle Kingdom tombs at Beni Hasan. Even at that young age he was innovative in improving the methods of copying tomb decoration. In 1892 he worked under the tutelage of Flinders Petrie for one season at Amarna, the capital founded by the pharaoh Akhenaten. From 1894 to 1899 he then worked with Édouard Naville at Deir el-Bahari, where he recorded the wall reliefs in the temple of Hatshepsut.

In 1899, Carter was appointed the first chief inspector of the Egyptian Antiquities Service (EAS). He supervised a number of excavations at Thebes (now known as Luxor) before he was transferred in 1904 to the Inspectorate of Lower Egypt. Carter resigned from the Antiquities Service in 1905 after an enquiry into an affray (known as the Saqqara Affair) between Egyptian site guards and a group of French tourists in which he sided with the Egyptian personnel.

Greetings to all KO Readers,

Whilst, we intend to keep in touch with you all through this blog, we have not been able to update the blog for a long time. In fact, we have been very busy with several minor updates and changes on the site. The site is now matured and have changed a lot since it got a new look on 16th of August, 2010.

Recently, we have been receiving a lot of link exchange requests, tracebacks and pingbacks. As we are still a novice in these areas, with due apologies to all the requesters, we have not responded to you all. We will hopefully be understanding a bit more about those with time and will try to open ourselves a bit in future, so that we are better connected, may be some of you might get benifitted. We will definitely make sure that we use the process ethically, as we are not in a race to be on the top sites list, what we intent to do is to provide, to all of you who are visiting this site, the kind of information you have been looking for…

We have been thiking of updating our site for a long time. Finally it’s a dream come true to reach at this stage. If you have been noticing we have been down for a while, well the reason being we have been trying to make it work really .

There is lot’s of features that’s been provided/added by wordpress . We belive in Keep it simple, Stupid! so we have moved from our bespoke CMS system to wordpress. I am not going into detail what wordpress does, but it’s better late than never for us. It just made our life simple , it just took a week for us to set up the site..

There are couple of great social features that we have included in this first updated

1. We are on twitter ,  our post are automatically updated so don’t forget to follow us on twitter

2. We have move from conventional RSS feed to feedburner which makes it easier for us and for you to subscribe for the latest news

3. Comment system is currently moderated, apologies for the moderation, but it’s a must for us till we release the update 0.2, most of you must be really eager to know what’s coming up next

4. we recently introduced a new channel K-JOBS, if you are aware manipur has around 600K (no figures available for other north eastern states) unemployed members currently registered to the the employment agency, it will be our utmost endeavor to provide the community for any job information

5. Our old classic site is still live and kicking …

Most of all KO would like to request our esteemed users to give their feedback to help us grow and improve .
