IMPHAL, Aug 22: Defending champion Ch Naoba lost to L Palhada in the mens singles final of the 3rd Imphal West district badminton championship held at Indoor Hall, DMC campus.
In the final played today Naoba, in defence of the title, played in agressive manner against his ace rival Palhada.
Naoba dominated the first set and went on to win by 21-15 points.
However, Palhada fight back and managed to level the set at 1-1 as he became winner of the second set by 23-21.
In the third and deciding set, both Naoba and Palhada were going neck to neck but Palhada was lucky to win the set 21-19 and eventually went on to win the match and the title.
In the mens double final match played today Naoba paired with Punshiba to defeat the pair of Inaocha and Chiran by strait set 24-22, 22-20.
In an exciting U-13 boys final, Roosevelt defeated M Meiraba by 21-15, 12-21, 22-20 to win the title.
In the sub-veteran (35plus) final, former Manipur player H Inaocha had an easy win against M Pratap, 21-10, 21-9.
