Imphal, Sep 14: At least four persons including two involved in kidnapping of non locals and two members of the different UG groups were apprehended by the state security forces during the seperate operations since yesterday.
In a major breakthrough in counter insurgency operation conducted by a team of Hiengang Police led by its OC, two non-locals were rescued from the custody of abductors from Heingang area this morning.
According to the Addl SP (OPs) of Imphal East, L Ibotombi Singh during a short briefing this morning, a team of Heingang police led by its OC rescued two non-locals who were abducted by two abductors identified as Thokchom Romen Singh, 30, son of Th Manijao and Takhellmayum Joykumar Singh, 30, son of Th Lukhoi both residence of Khurai Thangjam Leikai.
Addl SP Imphal East further mentioned that the incident occurred when a team of Heingang police led by its OC Insp. Khellen who were on routine duty spotted parking one Bolero Jeep bearing registration No. MN05-5482 at a foot hill of Kanto Ahallup village this morning.
Noticing a suspiciously parked jeep, the police team stopped and made enquiries.
One among the occupants told the police that their vehicle was parked because of some technical problems.
During their further queries the police found two non-local held captives inside the vehicle.
The two were later identified as Manprit Singh, 28, son of late Tarajit Singh and Bijendro Thapa both residence of Mantripukhri Bengali Basti.
The Heingang police team overpowered the occupants of the Jeep after one of the captives esclaimed they were kidnap victims.
Later, the police arrest the two abductor, one among them namely Thokchom Romen was found out to newly recruited IRB personnel.
In yet another incident, a team of Imphal West District police commandos, arrested one cadres of under KCP (City Meitei) identified as Laiphrakpam Ongbi Prema Leima, 34, wife of L L Bhogen Meitei of Sagolband Govinda from her during search operation yesterday evening.
In another arrest, a PLA cadre identified as S/S 2nd Lt. Phanjoubam Abung Meetei alias Nabakumar alias Romesh alias Pungyeiba, 34, son of Ph Biren Meetei of Andro Mamang Leikai was arrested by a team of Imphal West District police commandos during operation at Khwai Bhramhapur Nagamapal Laimayum Leirak this morning around 10.30 am.
