School students nab another UG

IMPHAL, Sep 1: Barely a day after an imbroglio inside the Johnstone Higher Secondary School over monetary demand and intimidation by suspected armed miscreants identifying themselves as KCP (Noyon) faction, the Ananda Higher Secondary School Nongmeibung again fell victim to individuals identifying themselves as KCP (Noyon) faction.

According to sources, individuals claiming to be of the KCP (Noyon) faction created an unwanted incident during the school period this morning at around 10:30am.

During the incident out of two persons who came for demands from teaching and non teaching staffs of Ananda Higher Secondary School one person was apprehended by the students and handed over to Porompat police station.

The arrested person is identified as Motum Jacky alias Anand, 28 years, son of M Ratan (police officer) of Bashikhong.

Students, teachers and non-teaching staffs of the Johnstone Higher Secondary School, Imphal staged a sit-in protest in front of the school against threats and intimidations meted out to teachers of the school by underground elements.
The protest was held from 10 am till 3 pm.

According to one of the protesting students, the protest was held in demand for a free zone in education sector and for maintaining peace and normalcy in academic institutions.

Placards with slogans like “Make Education a free Zone”, “We oppose imposition of monetary demand on school, avoid such incident in the future”, “Punish the perpetrators” etc. were displayed during the protest.

A similar incident had occurred yesterday at the Johnstone Higher Secondary School. The teachers were confined to one room of the school from around 10.30 am till the afternoon. Most of the teachers failed to attend classes and the news of confinement of teachers was noticed by some students who came out to find out the reason behind the teachers failing to attend classes.

As the news spread a mob of students chased the suspected militants.

Two of the three suspected militants managed to flee from the school premises while one of them was caught and later handed over to the police.
