Two Railway ticketing counters opened at Bishnupur and Senapati

IMPHAL, Sep 13: Two PRS (Railway Passenger Service System) were inaugurated today, one each by the two MPs Thokchom Meinya (Inner) and Thangso Baite (Outer), at Bishnupur district headquarters and at Senapati district headquarter respectively. Out of ten Railway Passenger Service Systems which were inaugurated today in different places of the North East states by MPs two were opened in Manipur after they were recently commissioned by the North East Frontier Railway.

The first Railway Passenger Service System in the hills was inaugurated by MP Thangso Baite on behalf of Railway minister Mamata Banerjee today at Senapati district headquarter Post Office in the presence of ex-ministers Ngamthang Haokip, Korungthang and Francis Ngajokpa and representatives from the North East Frontier Railway.

While delivering the chief guest’s speech Thangso Baite said that Senapati is the first hill district which is to enjoy easy railway ticket bookings. By the opening of such a centre the hill people who had earlier faced lots of problems on internet or transportation upto Imphal would feel much relieved, he said while thanking the concerned authorities for taking this step in the interest of the hills people. He further said that not only in Senapati district but the PRS centre would further be extended to Ukhrul, Tamenglong, Churachandpur and Chandel also.

About the slow development in the entire state due to state law and order, the MP mentioned that under the Look East Policy lots of developmental programs are coming to the state, and sought the general public’s cooperation for development of the state.

He further said that Senapati district is the most important district for the state, and the state government is dependent on Senapati district.
On the other hand, 10 PRS which were inaugurated by concerned MPs are at Assam’s Hojai by MP Rajen Gohain, at Nagaland’s Makokchung by CM Chang, at Mizoram’s Champai by CL Ruala, at Assam’s Bokajan by Biren Singh Engti, at Tripura’s RKpur by Khagen Das, at Tripura’s Ambassa by Baju Ban Riyan, at Meghalaya’s Nehu by Vincent H. Pala (Minister of State for water resources), at Assam’s Sarupathar by Deep Gogoi, and two at Manipur (Bishnupur and Senapati) by Th. Meinya and Thangso Baite.
