Assam Rifles conducts cleanliness drive

IMPHAL, Oct 3: The 42 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under aegis of IGAR (S) commemorated the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi by organising an anti garbage drive.
The locals gave an overwhelming response by coming up to help in large numbers. Approximately 400 people gathered to help. The village chiefs of Chandel town, the NGO heads especially CNPO willingly came forward to help the unit in making Chandel town area clean and green.
To aid the process Assam Rifles authorities joined in, helping the people out by doing Shram Dan and providing refreshment to the participants during the drive. Around 50 dustbins sponsored by 42 AR, were also distributed to all shopkeepers to encourage the cleanliness and hygiene in the area. The village authorities and the Assam Rifles expressed their deep gratitude to the women folk who voluntarily came out to participate in the event with full gusto and enthusiasm. Mahatma Gandhi was fondly remembered as farther of nation prior to commencement of the event. Town secretary, chairmen and other members appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles.
