IMPHAL, Oct 22: The government college teachers of the state under the aegis of Federation of College Teachers’ Association, Manipur (FECTAM) have decided to take up mass casual leave on October 29 and 30 following the failure of the state government to fulfill their demands for the implementation of 6th UGC pay scale and enhancement of age of superannuation for college teachers upto 65 years.

A release of FECTAM said that the apathy of the state government towards the welfare of the college teachers have compelled them to take mass casual leave for two days despite of their great concern for the students.

It further mentioned that college teachers have been tolerating the deceitful action of the state government for quite a long time. The Chief Minister as well as the concerned education minister has been making false assurances to the teachers. Henceforth, the state government should be responsible for any untoward incident in the future, it added.
