New Saikul Block school building inaugurated

IMPHAL, Oct 4: Education and Transport Minister, L. Jayenta Kumar Singh today inaugurated school building of the Thangtong Higher Secondary School, Saikul Block head quarter which has been recently upgraded from model high school.

The school building was constructed under the 2008-09 SPA fund at an estimated cost one crore rupees.
While speaking during the inaugural function as the chief guest, the minister said that the school building cost about 43.44 lakhs while 9.35 lakhs for maintenance for the staff and 47 lakhs for the maintenance of the school.

Further in his speech the Education Minister disclosed that the construction work under taken by the Government under the SPA will not be the last adding he maintained that 224 schools in the state will be blessed by the RMSA for which fund has been earmarked and sanctioned by the RMSA.

Besides that as per the power granted by the cabinet the ADC members will monitor the shortage from class I to VIII standard.

Education Minister, L. Jayenta Kumar further clarified that keeping in mind the demerit the mass transfer of teacher, the transfers has been kept pending for the time being however he asserted that the transfer process will begin from the next session to ensure equal distribution of teachers were needed to avoid hic ups in the academic session.
Jayenta Kumar also assured to provide 10 computer sets for the Thangtong Higher Secondary School. Moreover assured to upgrade the kitchen of the mid day meal at the school.
Development of a particular area is in the hand local and to strengthen the politics the newly elected MDCs are responsible, said Kshetrigao MLA, Nandakishore, who attended the inaugural function as guest of honour.
According to Doukhomang Khongsai, the president of the function, the people of Saikul witnessed a history moment. He claimed that this was the first time ever a minister visited and addressing the people of Saikul in a mass function.
Doukhomang said that the 32 Kilometre long road leading Imphal to Saikul has been in ruin for many years. The people are desperately in needs of repairs however due to low sanctioned the works remained undone, adds Doukhomang and drew the attention of the higher authority to intervene.
The Minister Jayenta also kicked off the block level inter school sports meet Saikul organized by the KSO Saikul and DSA at Saikul Village ground.
