Pay hike demanded

IMPHAL  Oct 12: Employees of the state electricity department currently on work charge and master roll voices their dissent regarding the apathy of the state government. A statement by the Manipur Electricity Employees’ Union states that the recommended wages under the 6th pay commission have not been implemented for the workers.
The escalating prices of essential commodities in the state have skyrocketed and the employees are having a tough time making ends meet on the present salary. The statement alleged that the present government have not initiated any measures for the welfare of the workers and there have been no announcement or notification on when the workers will be entitled to the 6th Pay Commission wages.
The Union appealed to the government to hike the salaries of the workers before the Ningol Chakouba.
