IMPHAL, Oct 3: Imphal West district police commandos arrested two overground worker of the underground RPF involved in attacking non-locals in the recent past.
Informing this to media during a press conference held today SDPO Imphal West Madhunimai said a team of CDO Imphal West managed to arrest two cadres of the proscribe RPF who are allegedly involved in carrying out attack upon non-Manipuris in the state.
The SDPO further said the arrested individual were identified as Kharibam Amarjit alias Nanao alias Bung, 24, son of (L) K Thoiba of Sagolband Nepram Menjor Leikai and Meisnam Jugindro alias Tomal, 47, son (L) M. Abhiram of Sagolband Thingom Leikai.
The arrested individual were also paraded before the media today at Commando Complex, Minuthong.
The SDPO further disclosed that the duo militants were arrested following a tiff off from Heignang Chingkhong.
Initially the the CDO team nabbed K Amarjit around 5:30 am from a farm at Heingnang. While conducting preliminary interrogation on Amarjit he revealed that he was one amongst who carried out attack to non-locals, Modhunimai told media adding that the arrested individual disclosed that the weapon he used in carrying out attack on non-local was deposited at the residence of Jugindro. Following Amarjit’s disclosure.
Jugindro was later arrested around 7:30 am today from his residence.The SDPO further said that Amarjit revealed about Jugindro being an active member of RPF/PLA and was involved in various activities of the outfit including harbouring or arms and incriminating documents.
The SDPO further said Amarjit was involved in attempting to kill a non-local at Keishamthong Hodam Leirak on September 9 and also the shooter of one Rajendro Raj at Keishampat Takhel Leikai on September 16.
Moreover Amarjit is reportedly working under Nongmeikapam Shankar a self styled sergeant Major of the outfit.
In another incident, a combined team of CDO Thoubal and 12 Maratha Light Infantry while conducting search operation in Awang Khunou village, Lamshang P.S arrested one KCP (MC) cadre, Khumanthem Shamu Singh, 45 yrs, S/o (L) Kh.Tombi Singh of Awang Khunou village. As per the release from the Thoubal Police District, the cadre was caught with one 9mm Pistol with Magazine and four (4) live rounds of 9mm ammunition.
In Yet Another incident the troops of 23 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) l apprehended one hardcore cadre of proscribed PREPAK group identified as Wankheirakpham Nandi Meetei, 26 yrs, son of Late Chandam Meetei, of Loushangkhong village at around 4.15 pm on yesterday afternoon during a lounched operation by the troops on getting informations over the presence of the UG into the areas. The apprehendee was i and was handed ove to Lamlai Police Station yesterday evening itself, according to the statement of PRO IGAR (South) Imphal.
