Ukhrul seminar pledges people would be taken on board in development planning

IMPHAL, Oct 19: In continuation of the ongoing development seminar which intends to cover the entire district of the state, the DoNER, Government of India along with the officials of the state successfully held “Development Seminar” in respect of Ukhrul district today at the Town Hall, Ukhrul.
Despite the town wearing a dull look with all the shops being made to shut down to protest the Union home secretary’s visit, the seminar was a tremendous success and elicited enthusiastic participation from many who were present in the discussions.
The Union home secretary GKPillai along with the secretary of DoNER Jayanti Chandra, IAS were the chief guest and guest of honour respectively at the seminar.
The seminar began at 9 in the morning by which time despite the distance from the capital city, the government officials, department heads, NGO activists and leaders, as well as many others arrived at the venue.
 
The DoNER secretary in her welcome address mentioned that participation of NSCN(IM) leader Th Muivah in development seminar like the one held today for Ukhrul district is not only important but also necessary.
She further ensured that assistance would be provided after a chartered outline of the steps are being drawn together by the locals and the state government.
The DC Ukhrul gave an educative power point presentation on facts and figures of the development programs with focus on flagship programs of Ukhrul. Developmental aspects such as roadways, power supply and education to name a few, were discussed thoroughly while opinions & suggestions were also taken from the crowd that participated in great numbers describing the hardships faced by them due to the hindrances in development in the district.
The organizing committee provided lunch to all the participants and people were seen conversing with the officials giving inputs on an informal mode.
In the second session, the discussions continued followed by a presentation by the secretary of DoNER and other central government officers and had a similar follow up with discussions with the participants.
The DC Ukhrul in his vote of thanks expressed appreciation to everybody who made the seminar a success. He also said that he was confident that they would be able to work together for development.
