3 killed and 10 injured in Ukhrul bus mishap

UKHRUL, Dec.16: At least three persons have been killed and 10 other seriously injured when an Imphal bound passanger bus going from Ukhrul met with a road accident today.

According to a reliable source, a passnger bus playing between Imphal-Ukhrul named “Blue Dart” while going to Imphal from Ukhrul met a tragic accident just before reaching Nungshang Kong (Bridge) site in Ukhrul-Imphal road some 17km  from Ukhrul Police Station.
The source said that the bus met with the accident near a paddy field zone of Hundung village.
The source further disclosed that identities of the deceased could not be established immediately.
However, it has been more or less confirmed that amongst the three dead persons, two are Tangkhuls and one non-Manipuri.
In the meantime, all the injured passengers have been rescued by an Assam Rifles and brought them to RIMS hospital in Imphal.

A police team of UKhrul District Police also rushed to the spot but details about the accident are still awaited.
Police sources in the meantime, revealed that one Jaimal Meitei is amongst the seriously injured passenger.
The Passenger bus took-off from Ukhrul for Imphal at around 1:00 pm today, according to the source from the bus ticket booking counter.
