NSCN-K claims uprooting rival camp in AP

IMPHAL, Dec 30: On December 27 evening at around 1.45pm the Naga army uprooted the only camp of NSCN (IM) at Khamlang village under Changlang district and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition, states a press release by NSCN (K) spokesperson P Tikhak. The arms haul includes two AK series rifle, one M-16 rifle, one .32 pistol, one air gun five crude bombs, one magazine of AK assault rifle, twelve  mobile handsets, two radio Transmitter, five lakhs sixty thousand in cash of extorted money and several demand notes addressed to the local leaders.
The release further states that the entire camp made of bamboo and thatch roofincluding bunkers were destroyed. At least two NSCN (IM) cadres were killed and five of them seriously injured in the attack.
Yesterday, in yet another attack at Longkhao village under Tirap district the Naga Army recovered a sten gun with thirty rounds of ammunition and an AK magazine. During the encounter one of the IM cadres was seriously injured.
Earlier, the Naga Army raided some of the IM hide outs and apprehended two of their activist, a surgeon and a Lance corporal in Tirap district. The release states that it was in retaliation to the earlier incidents involving IM cadres when they killed one of NSCN (K) Rajapeyu, Late Zaremo Lotha, on August 26, at Mekokla under Wokha district, killing of Late Lt. Ngampang on 6th March at Khonsa, under Tirap district, brutal torture of khapur Mr. Ahose on oct.14 in Chumukedima, forceful abduction of our cadres along with arms and ammunition on sep.12 from Tesari region,the release adds.
The release mentions that, it is unfortunate even after the Covenant of Reconciliation signed at the highest level and the subsequent meetings and interaction at the various levels involving the civil societies, the Muivah gang continued their policy of killing and bloodbaths unabated among the Naga brethrens, in complete disregard to the Naga people. Therefore, the Naga Army was moved out to check and control the crimes committed by the gangsters in the areas. It is, completely an act of defense by the Naga Army from the criminals who are bent on sucking the blood of the Nagas and not at all an offensive. Had they not committed the crimes post, the Covenant of Reconciliation, the situation would have been completely different. The Muivah boys are squarely responsible for everything that is unfolding today and we vow that, we will not hesitate to go to any extent to defend our people and our land from the criminals, the release concluded.
