All Manipur Road Transport Drivers and Motor Workers Union Transporters to stop plying on NH 39

IMPHAL, Jan 27:  The All Manipur Road Transport Drivers and Motor Workers Union have today resolved to stop plying on the National Highway 39 from today in an act of condemning the repeated acts of disturbing the vehicles plying on the said highway.
In a meeting held today at its Mantripukhri office, Kulamani general secretary of the union placed before the attending mediapersons that the drivers plying on the highway are feeling unsafe and insecure even under the security cover provided by CRPF. He has maintained that there have been numerous incidents when illegal taxes are collected by miscreants along the highway in the presence of the CRPF escorts. There has been an incident when militants hit a driver inside a Dimapur godown in the presence of the CRPF escorts.
The general secretary while confirming the resolution of the meeting stated that the drivers has today resolved to stop plying on the highway and will start plying only if the government allow the vehicles to use NH 53 instead of NH 39.
