IED explosion rocks Telipati,Manipur; houses destroyed but none injured

IMPHAL, Jan 21: Amidst tight security measures taken up by the state police along with Central para-military force ahead of the 62nd Republic Day Celebration in the state to be held on January 26, a powerful bomb (improvised explosive device) exploded this evening at around 10 pm at Khurai Telipati near Shiva Temple under Porompat Police Station.

The impact of high intensity IED bomb blast at Telepati in Imphal East destroyed many houses in the locality. Luckily no one was killed in the blast.

The massive explosion destroyed as many as eight houses in the locality of Telipati, however, there was no report of human casualty.
A large depression measuring five feet by eight feet with a depth of three feet was formed at the site of the explosion.
The semi-pucca houses of Rajendra Prasad Sahu and his younger brother Surendra Sahu were almost destroyed by the powerful explosion that shook the area beleived to be the handiwork of militant group.
The owners of other destroyed houses are Indra Prasad Sahu, Lalan Prasad Sahu, Radhakrishna Prasad Sahu, Madan Prasad Sahu, Chunu and Shanker Prasad Sahu.
One Ambassador Car (registration no.MN-04/A 0095) belonging to one Radhakrishna was also destroyed during the explosion.
A team of Imphal East Police led by additional SP A. Rajen inspected the explosion site and an FIR has been lodged in connection with the blast.
