IMPHAL, April 1: A special team of the Singjamei police has apprehended five gang members of vehicle lifters operating in the area and recovered three Honda active from their possession.
The arrested persons have been identified as one RK. Naoba, 26, s/o RK. Sanajaoba of Singjamei Chirom Leikai, Meisnam Roji, 26, s/o M. Modhu of Singjamei Chinga Phura Makhong and RK. Boi, 26, s/o Sanajaoba of Lalambung Takhellambam Leikai, Irengbam Gandhi, 30, s/o I Joykumar of Pisum Ningom Leirak and Salam Bikramjit, 29, s/o (L) Bijoy Kumar of Nambol Bazaar.
The individuals along with the recovered items were paraded before media persons at Singjamei Police station during a press conference held today. Two master keys were also recovered from the possession of individuals.
Speaking during the meet the OC has assured to continue the drive and hunt down the lifters and deliver the seized vehicles to the rightful owners.Reports of 52 cases of vehicle lifting were received by the concerned police last year alone and about 10 cases alone were reported within the last three months, adds the OC.
