Falerio lauds SPF govt and CM for all round development of state

IMPHAL June 28: Permanent member of the Congress Working Committee Luizinho Falerio after attending the day long political conference at Mapal Kangjeibung yesterday attended a press briefing at the Congress Bhawan today.

The press meet was also attended by the Chief Minister O Ibobi, speaker I Hemochandra, MP T Meinya, MPCC president Gaikhangam among other top party officials of the state.

Briefing mediaprsons, Faleiro stated that he has been visiting the state frequently and seen the developmental works being carried out at a rigorous pace.

Among the landmark works, he maintained that the construction of the city convention centre, high court complex, Manipur Film Development Corporation, Inter State Bus Terminus are all commendable projects and further added that the high court complex at Chingmeirong is the best amongst those in the Northeast states.

He further said that the construction of the three Ima markets is a symbol of women empowerment.

He said that such fast infrastructure developments show the committed vision of the SPF government and the Congress party in the state.

Stating that the up-gradation of JNIMS, Manipur University and Manipur Institute of Technology are state of the art developments and the credit goes to the state Chief Minister for his capacity to realize his vision in overall development.

Further, he said that the flagship programs of the centre and the common minimum programs have been implemented in the state and awareness about these programs have been tendered to the public on a district level and now measures are being taken up to further give awareness on a block level and on a door to door basis.

The public of the nation has endorsed and acknowledged the UPA government; the mass approval has sent up the UPA to govern the nation for the second time as schemes like RTI, MGNREGS, RTE acts have been established for public welfare, moreover the Right to Foods Security Act is in the offing, he said.

India is not affected by the global economic crisis, as the country has seen an 8.5 growth in GDP. Being an agriculturally abundant nation, there has been excess stockpiling of food grains and the production rate is high. He mentioned that corruption is an important issue to be tackled which the AICC views with all seriousness and concrete steps have been taken up to control it.

Further, he alleged that Anna Hazare and Baba Ram Dev are pawns of the BJP and they are pressing to gain political mileage out of the issue and has a hidden agenda, he contended that both of them while urging anti corruption at Karnataka had failed to address the prevalent corrupt status of the state as it is governed by the BJP.

Moreover, he said that the Congress is a party with commitment and integrity and processing to enact the Lok Pal Bill.

Replying queries about the scheduled tripartite talk with the UNC and the government, he said that the talks are a prerequisite for bringing about peace and harmony in the state, and the talks will not be based on the interest of a single party.

The Chief Minister, O Ibobi in his brief statement said that the state government concerned about the price hike of fuel has adopted zero taxes for kerosene sales in the state and LPG rates will be at par with other NE states.

He said that the exercise to declare the assets of the MLAs and ministers are underway, as the process is a long and tedious one, but the government is preparing to announce it at the soonest. He also mentioned that the demands of the Jiribam District Demand Committee is a just one, but have to study the ramifications before the status demanded is tendered and cannot be entertained as of yet.
