SSA books and school dresses distributed at Ukhrul

UKHRUL / June 23: Under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan project, various items including school uniforms and text-books were distributed at the Ukhrul Higher Secondary School today, which was attended by all concerned school headmasters of over 287 schools of the district to collect the items for their respective schools.

The simple distribution ceremony was attended by Rita Leiyaphi, Assistant Commissioner Ukhrul along with Ukhrul Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) N. Everest who is also the District Project Officer in the SSA and his sub-Ordinates staffs. The items were brought from Imphal in two full LP trucks.

The chief guest Rita Leiyaphi, in her speech appealed to all concern staffs and Headmasters, teacher in-charge engage in the distribution of the school students’ items to reach out to all deserving students so that the poor students can avail the benefits of the centrally sponsored scheme to have the access to the right of compulsory education.

The district co-ordinator, Wonthing A. Shimray asserted that the SSA monitoring office at Ukhrul has been looking forward to organizing such an event and further targets to reached out to almost 40,000 Schedule Caste students of the district

During the distribution ceremony, parents and elders thanked the government, however many people were against the distribution of Hindi and Manipuri books as there are no teachers to teach Hindi and Manipuri in most of the schools.
