SPA, SCA funds for ongoing projects revised

IMPHAL, July 12: The projects in the state funded under the Special Plan Assistance (SPA) and Special Central Assistance (SCA) for the current financial year 2011-12 for both ongoing and new projects has been revised to Rs. 880 crores from the already approved outlay of Rs. 800 crores by the centre.

According to an official source, the revised estimated fund was officially approved and subsequently the additional fund was released by the centre for different projects undertaken in the state with the timely issuance of utilization certificates by different sectors undertaking the projects.

The official source further mentioned that under the SPA/SCA schemes for 2011-12 many projects including infrastructure development of Jawarhalal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences with an estimated cost of Rs. 132 crores and has been revised to 145 crore, construction of district hospital in Bishnupur with an estimated cost of Rs.2.55 and has been revised to Rs.2.81 crores, conservation and management of Loktak Lake and Associated Wetland with an estimated cost of Rs.73 and revised to Rs.80.30 crores, construction of mini-secretariat building in nine districts head quarters with an estimated cost of Rs. 36.50 crores and has been revised to Rs.40.15 crores and constructions of capitol projects with an estimated cost of Rs. 72 crores and has been revised to Rs.80.08 crores.

Likewise, state government has made revision of the estimated costs for other projects under SPA/ACA including  completion of ongoing works of APDRP in greater Imphal areas, installation of 132/33 KV sub-station at Ukhrul district and its associated line,  Swerahe project phase-I for Imphal city areas,  construction police housing/building and  VDF outposts building, Manipur Sericulture projects (Phase-II), upgradation ofvarious roads in both hills and valley districts to provide connectivity.

The official source also further mentioned that, there has been enhance in the estimated cost for other projects under SPA/SCA including equipment of district hospital Thoubal, construction of district hospital for Imphal East, construction of district hospital for Imphal West, erection 33KV feeder from power grid sub-station at Yurembam, for flood control and Anti erosion schemes/projects, Bio-diversity conservation of water bodies & improvement of environment in four different places (JNIMS, Waithou, Heipokching and others, Moreh), construction of Administrative building post for police, upgradation of infrastructure of 12 Govt. Schools colleges,  Special schools for the  differently abled children with learning difficulties, upgradation of infrastructure of Manipur Public School Koirengei, construction of lab block for applied science and engineering state support for NIT, at Lamphel pat,  Administrative infrastructure development of 6 ADCs construction of godown at Jiribam, construction of Urban Hat at Imphal.

The revision of allocation of the funds for the projects under the SPA/SCA for the state government for the current financial shows a tremendous achievement in the progress of works of various projects and schemes as the centre with no objection released the second installments of various projects after due submission of the proper  utilization certificates within the stipulated time, the source added.
