The Institute would also work for the welfare of tribal women of the state, he noted.

The resource persons of the seminar were Ningthingla Ruivahnao and principal of Pettigrew College, Dr T Ningharla.

Ningthila spoke on the topic “Tribal Women in Economic Life of Tribal Community” while Dr Ningharla dwelled on the topic “Tribal Women Villages: Economic Constraints and Prospects”.

Expressing concern over the degrading work culture of the state, Ningthila stated that the tribal people have no work culture and they also have little awareness on family planning. As a result of which the socio-economic condition of the tribal community is fast degrading with children being forced even into flesh trade.

The socio-economic condition of the people can also be raised through education and awareness, she noted.

About 100 people from 10 neighbouring villages of Irong took part in the seminar.
