AMSU perturbed by artificial scarcity

IMPHAL, Sept 29: All Manipur Students’ Union has decried the government inaction to control the prices and ensure continued availability of essential commodities in the wake of economic blockades imposed on the national highways.

A release of AMSU mentioned that the state government is trying to extract money from the common people in collusion with the traders by fixing the prices of essential commodities highly.

The AMSU has asked the government why it fixes the price of potato at Rs. 19 per kg when it is able to sell Rs. 15 per kg in the mobile market.

The state government should take up a long-term policy to deal with the problem of artificial scarcity of essential commodities and subsequent price hike, it added.
