Protest held against monetary demand to school

IMPHAL, Sept 14: The staff, students and guardians of International Public School, Brahmapur Mange Makhong today staged a sit-in-protest at the school campus against monetary demand imposed by a militant group.

The principal of the school, Gurumayum Purnima disclosed that the monetary demand od Rs. one lakh was imposed by some individuals who identified themselves as cadres of PREPAK (Progressive). The demand was served over the phone to the principal of the school.

There are only 74 students from pre-nursery to class-I and eight teaching staff and with monthly income of Rs. 10,348. 

She appealed the organization concerned to withdraw their demand in view of the hardship being faced by the school authority in managing the school.

Placards and banners which read as “Do not threaten school authority”, “make education free zone”, “don’t impose monetary demand on educational institution”, “don’t jeopardize students career” etc were also displayed during the protest.
