Tangkhul organizations condemn Royal Hotel blast

IMPHAL, September 16: A joint statement of various Tangkhul organizations have strongly condemned the September 14 bomb explosion inside the Royal Hotel in Imphal, in which an innocent man was killed and two others seriously injured, as an act of cowardice and a heinous crime.

The statement signed by president TKS, TMNL Speaker and RKS president has stated that on Friday, the Tangkhul organizations including Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS), Raphei Katamnao Long and Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL) Assembly Affairs have demanded the state government to immediately institute an inquiry commission into the incident.

“The blast incident is an act of cowardice and inhumanly crime and should be condemned by all people. The state is facing serious security lapses and the government should seriously look into this matter,” asserted TKS president Yangmi Khapai.

The Tangkhul organizations have stated that the deceased R. Thingchipem s/o Late R. Wungkatui of Paoyi (Peh) village was an innocent person and a breadwinner of his family. He is survived by his wife and four minor children three sons and a daughter.

The organizations have jointly demanded that the state government should arrange ex-gratia for the blast victims.

TMNL assembly affairs speaker R Akhui has strongly claimed that Thingchipem was a cultivator by profession and had visited Imphal for medical checkup.

RKL has also voiced concerns over the frequent spate of bomb blast in the state. “The dastardly act like bomb blast has always claimed the lives of innocent people. We must stand up to fight such crime,” said RKL president Isaac Mashangva.
