Drugs disposed off

IMPHAL, November 20: Illegal drugs including SP Tablets and N-ten amounting to more than Rs 20 lakhs were set on fire today at the Lilong Haoreibi Mayai Leikai Idiga Lampak organised by the ANJUMAN, Lilong, in the presence of local MLA Hellaluddin Khan and locals.

Sanjeev Kumar CO, 28 AR, Bikram Mehta, CO, 18th Sikh Regiment, Md Chaoba, OC Lillong also attended the burning of the illegal drugs.

The drugs which were set on fire today include 155402 SP capsules, 2996 N-ten tablets and 303 cough syrups.

Speaking at the function, local MLA stated that the drugs were nabbed from 32 individuals since August 1-November 10 by ANJUMAN.  

The MLA further informed that this is the seventh such instance when drugs have been set on fire under the initiation of ANJUMAN and added that even though it is a big step against drug abuse, it is at the same time a big shame for the Islamic religion, as Islam doesn’t allow drugs or any forms of intoxicants.
