CM makes last inaugural spree before imposition of election model code of conduct at Thoubal

IMPHAL, December 24: Prior to the announcement of the election model code of conduct, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh today inaugurated four infrastructures constructed under various projects in Thoubal district.

The four infrastructures which were inaugurated by the Chief Minister today are Babu Bazar, Thoubal market complex, 100 bedded district hospital and the Thoubal mini-secretariat.

After the inaugural of the buildings, a function was also held at the Mini secretariat complex. The function was attended among others by works minister K Ranjit, health minister L Jayenta, MLA U Deven, MLA Md Hellaluddin and MLA O Landhoni.

Speaking at the function, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh said that the SPF government has firm commitment to root out corruption from the state and it is for this reason that the state assembly passed the Manipur Lok Ayukta Bill, 2011.

He said no government officials would be spared from awarding punishment if found corrupt.

In order to improve law & order situation in the state, the SPF government has opened several new police out-posts and police stations also.

With regard to the demand being raised in some quarters to bifurcate Kakching from Thoubal district, the Chief Minister appealed the people demanding a Kakching district to discard such an idea for the time being as the government is facing serious problems due to the demands for Sadar Hills and Jiribam districts.

While reiterating that the SPF government has firm commitment to keep intact the territorial boundary of Manipur, he added that he had made an aerial inspection of the whole territorial area of the state. He also informed that his government is monitoring the living lifestyles of all the different communities of the state especially those inhabiting the state boundaries. He further added that his government is considering various reports on the wants of the people of the state of both the hills and valley districts and will now act to provide equal development in both the hills and the valley districts.

Meanwhile, according to an official source, the construction of the ThoubalMini Secretariat was started on April 3, 2006 at the cost of Rs 36.72 crores while Shopping complex was constructed at the cost of Rs 491129 crores.

The 100 bedded District Hospital Thoubal was constructed at a cost of Rs 24 crores.

The construction of the hospital had started since April 2006, the source added.
