IMPHAL, January 10: At least 35 aspirants including some heavyweight politicians of the state have filed their nomination papers today to contest in the 10th Manipur legislative assembly election which is scheduled to held on January 28.
Altogether 10 aspirants filed their nomination papers in Bishnupur district including two sitting MLAs and some heavyweights.
A total of four aspirants filed their nomination papers in 28-Thanga assembly constituency including sitting MLA T Mangibabu with an INC ticket. Others who have filed their nominations in the constituency are M Ashnikumar of CPI, S Ibohal of the BJP and S Manisana of the MPP.
In 24-Nambol assembly constituency, former union minister and MLA Th Chaoba filed his nomination paper to contest the election with a MPP ticket.
In 25-Oinam a/c sitting MLA Dr I Ibohalbi filed his nomination paper to contest the election in Trinamool Congress.
In 26-Bishnupur a/c, P Kumarjit filed his nomination paper to contest the election with a BJP ticket.
In 29-Kumbi a/c, Sanasam Bira of INC too filed his nomination paper today while A Angousana filed his nomination paper in the same constituency with MPP ticket. In the same constituency, Kh Nabakumar also filed his nomination paper with BJP ticket.
In 55-Tipaimukh a/c, Ngurrivung filed his nomination paper as independent candidate today.
Sitting MLA DD Thaisii of INC too filed his nomination paper in 47-Karong (ST) a/c today.
In 48-Mao (ST) a/c, Joram of Trinamool Congress filed his nomination paper today while PT Arhai of INC filed his nomination paper in the same constituency.
In 49-Tadubi a/c, former minister Francis Ngajokpa of INC filed his nomination paper while Athikho Solomon Enah of Trinamool Congress too filed his nomination papers today.
In Imphal east district, M Singhajit Singh of NCP filed his nomination paper today in 1-Khundrakpam a/c.
In 2-Heingang a/c Y Mangi of the MPP filed his nomination paper.
In 8-Lamlai a/c, Kh Ibomcha of Trinamool Congress filed his nomination paper today.
In 5-Thongju a/c, Mongjam Jayentakumar CPI filed his nomination paper.
In 14-Yaiskul a/c, Hanjabam Jayadeva Sharma filed his nomination paper.
In 15-Wangkhei a/c, Dr Haobam Borbabu of BJP filed his nomination paper today.
In 6-Keirao a/c, Md Islamuddin of Trinamool Congress and Ngangbam Robindro of JDS filed their nomination papers today.
