IMPHAL, March 31: The Liangmai Naga Student’s Union has resolved not to allow any non-native Liangmai speakers to research or take project on Liangmai language without prior concern of the union.

Since the work of non-native speaker book lacks the touch of an expert, spelling errors, orthography which makes it very difficult to understand the book.

According to a press release, the union is dissatisfied with the recent interview conducted by Tribal Research Institute on March 24 under the work entitled “Studies on Development of Tribal languages (Grammar and Culture of Liangmai Tribe)” in favor of Non-Liangmai scholars who do not know Liangmai language at all.

The student’s union asserted that the selection was purely made by the lobby of some persons who favor the interest of the individual as the Liangmai eligible candidates with M.Phil. and Ph.D. have faced the interview but they were not selected. Calling it an act of injustice the union urged the government or screening committee to cancel the project or call another interview, stated the release.

Further, the union has also warned of stern action if any individual from the community are found providing data to outsiders either primary or secondary. And for the non-native speakers who are interested to work on Liangmai Language should consult with Liangmai tribe before the onset of his or her work assignment, added the release.
