State waives loan to dead MLAs

IMPHAL, May 12: The government has recently decided to waive off the outstanding loan amounts of ex-MLAs who are dead.

According to a source, the dead MLAs include Wungnoashung of Phungyar with an outstanding amount of Rs 650350/loan taken in his wife Ninghorla’s name; E Suraj of Yaiskul with an outstanding amount of Rs 900100 taken in his wife Neeta Armabam’s name; Songchinkhup of Thanlon outstanding amount of Rs 2,27,550 taken in his wife’s name of Tuwalgin.

Others include Salam Chandra of Andro with Rs 711400 loan taken in his wife Rani’s name; Moirangthem Nabadwip outstanding amount of Rs 72150 taken in his wife Ibetombi’s name and EK Singh of Yaiskul outstanding amount of Rs 972250 taken in his wife Ibempishak’s name.

Meanwhile, the state government has also approved the appointment of 18 next of kin of the victims of the June 18 incident on compassionate ground.

According to a source, out of the 18 applicants, 12 will be appointed in the Education (S) department while the remaining six will be appointed in the Transport department in different Grade-III and IV posts.

The 12 applicants to be appointed in the education dept include Thokchom Randhabinod of Yaishkul Janmasthan as Science Graduate teacher, Ksh Ranju Devi of Singjamei Kshetri Leikai as Science Graduate teacher, Th Jayentakumar of Chinga-makha Irom Leikai as Arts Graduate teacher, Konsam Homendro Meetei of Khurai Konsam Leikai as Arts Graduate teacher and Mayanglambam Suresh-kumar Leitei of Khurai Konsam Leikai in Grade IV.

Others to be appointed in the department are Kshetrimayum John Singh of Khurai Konsam Leikai as LDC/Grade IV, Laitonjam (O) Phalguni Devi of Uripok Khoisnam Leikai as graduate teacher, Khoisnam Inaobi Devi of Maibam Leikai Bokulmakhong and Bachaspatimayum Naobi Sharma of Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai as Grade IV.

Others to be appointed in the education department are Yumnam Nishida Devi of Khagempalli Panthak and Konthoujam Rabi Meetei of Konthoujam Lairembi Leikai as LDC/Grade IV and Okram Rome Singh Langathel Mamang Leikai as Grade IV, the source informed.

Six others have been appointed in the transport dept.
