TC say no to racial profiling

IMPHAL, May 27: Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress Committee today said the menace of racial profiling against the Northeast people staying in other states of the country has become a nuisance for quite a long time.

The issue has created a serious problem for India and that there will be no further harmony in the region if the Indian government fails to take up initiatives to end the sensitive issue, insisted MPTCC in a press statement.

The Karnataka government is not willing to hand over the alleged murder case of Loitam Richard to the CBI for probe and at the same time the people have demanded the case of Okram Laba be transferred to the investigating agency, which the state government is not listening, the statement alleged.

The statement also lauded KD Singh, NE In-charge of Trinamool Congress who has promised during his visit to Imphal yesterday to take up steps to impress upon the government to hand over the two cases to the CBI.

With regard to the recent steep petrol price hike, MPTCC said the decision of the government which has hit hard on the common people should be rollback immediately.

The party will stage protest tomorrow to put pressure to the government to hand over the cases of Richard and Laba to the CBI and to rollback the petrol price.
