Presidential polls 2012 India: P.A. Sangma meets Mamta Banerjee to seek support

The Presidential nominee of the BJP ( Bharatya Janata Party)  Mr. P.A.Sangma met the Trinamul Congress Chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Ms. Mamta Banerjee to seek her support for his candidature. Mr. Sangma had about 30 minute meeting with Ms. Banerjee and her party leaders in Kolkata this afternoon. Later, Mr. Sangma told newsmen that besides Presidential polls both the sides discussed present political situation in the country .

Mr Sangma said that he is very happy with the outcome of the meeting. The All India General Secretary of the Trinamool Congress and Railway Minister Mr Mukul Roy who was also present at the meeting said that the final decision on the issue will be taken after discussions within the party.

Our Kolkata Corespondent reports that the meeting assumes significance as the Trinamool Congress Supremo opposed the candidature of the UPA nominee Mr. Pranab Mukherjee for the Presidential poll despite being an ally of it.
