Woman arrested in child trafficking case

IMPHAL, June 29: A young woman who tried to trafficked four minor boys to Guwahati has been arrested by Imphal West district police.

Four boys aged between 12 and 14, were rescued by Senapati police from being trafficked to a man in Guwahati yesterday.

The young woman involved in the child trafficking case is identified as Khuraijam Sonia, 21, daughter of (L) Kh Iboyaima, a resident of Langjing Tamang under Lamshang Police Station in Imphal West.

The four boys are Takhellambam Sanamatum, 15, son of T Roma, Yumnam Bajpai, 14, son of Y Brojen, both residents of  Mayang Langjing Taning ; Leishangthem Apikpa, 14, son of L Rabi of Taothong Aphei, presently staying at his mother’s parental residence in Mayang Langjing Taning and Khuraijam Motilal, 15, son of Kh Samananda of Mayang Langjing Tamang.

One of the boys Motilal is stated to be a cousin of Sonia.

She is now in police custody and being interrogated by the police on the case. The four boys are also likely to questioned by the police in the case.

A child trafficker in the state gets Rs 40,000 to 50,000 for a child, said a senior police official.
