4 killed in road mishap

IMPHAL, July 20: Four individuals including a pregnant woman were killed while three were injured in a road mishap this morning along the Irang to Khongsai stretch of the Imphal-Jiribam road at Tamenglong. The incident happened this morning at 9am when the Tata Sumo in which the victims were travelling tried to overtake another vehicle and hit a tree.

According to a source, the Tata Sumo with registration no MN 01 K 8779 turned turtle after hitting the tree, killing the driver and a passenger at the spot.

It is also learnt that two of the injured later succumbed while being transported to the Noney Primary Health Centre.

The driver has been identified as only Anand of Thoubal, while the passenger who died at the spot has been identified as Phillips Golmei, 25 son of Makubanpao of Naokalung Pt I.

The other two who succumbed on the way to the hospital have been identified as Wuimachungliu, 41, wife of Wevi of Tharon and Rangjailiu Daimei, 23 pregnant wife of Wuirangpou.

All the four dead bodies have been deposited at the Noney PHC, while the three injured have been shifted to the RIMS.

The three injured have been identified as Gaishingam, 23 son of Ahdum of Naokalung Pt I, Tamenglong, Yaiganmei, 25, son of Khubipau, 25 of Duithanjang, Tamenglong and L Gangmei.

Meanwhile, Yaiganmei and L Gangmei have been shifted to the Shija Hospital this late evening.
