Assam Guwahati molestation: Tarun Gogoi orders inquiry

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today ordered an inquiry into the incident of molestation of a girl in Guwahati on Monday night. Additional Chief Secretary of Assam, Mrs. Emily Chowdhary has been instructed to inquire into the matter and submit report within 15 days.

The Chief Minister also instructed the State DGP, J N Choudhary to nab all the culprits involved in the incident. So far, four persons have been arrested in connection with the molestation case. Official sources said that 11 persons involved in the incident, have been identified. The DGP said that the hunt is on to apprehend the other culprits. He said that 5 special police teams have been formed to look into the matter.

The National Commission for Women has also decided to send a team to Guwahati to investigate the incident. Various organisations and political parties have condemned the incident and demanded immediate arrest of the people involved.
