Awareness on Bonded child labour at Moreh Manipur

MOREH, July 28: A one day awareness programme on eradication of child labour, bonded child labour at the conference hall of the Moreh Forest Rest house today.

The awareness campaign was jointly organized by the Labour department, govt of Manipur in collaboration with the All Moreh Construction Workers’ Union, Indo Myanmar Labour Society and Moreh Area Farmers’ Dept Society.

The programme was attended by Deputy Labour Commissioner, E Tomba Singh, Labour Inspector, Lamphel head quarter Inspector L Priyokumar Singh and Moreh Labour Inspector Mangliathang.

The programme was also attended by various village chiefs of the area and others.

Several related officials of the department spoke on the topic and urged all to help eradicate bonded child labour.

The speakers also urged upon all to stop child labour and to instead encourage education so that they could also stand on their own.

They further urged all to report to the department in case they come across any bonded labour so that the department could take up actions.

It was also elaborated that in 2011 the government had launched several schemes for the benefit of the labourers however it is yet to reach Moreh and there is a need for awareness programmes on the schemes.

The programme was also participated by several labours of the area.
