IMPHAL, July 20: On his 87th birthday, a book “Laishram Samarendragi Apunba Lairik”, a collection of literary works by Laishram Samarendro was released at the Manipur Dramatic Union Hall, Moirangkhom today.
Published by the Poknapham Publication, the book defines L Samarendro as a poet, writer and an artist. His works have been widely published in local dailies and journals.
“The plan to publish the works of Sir Samarendro in a form of a book begins in 2009”, said Y Ibomcha, who overcame all odds collecting the works from all four corners.
While wishing the multi faceted personality a happy long life, Ibomcha thanked well-wishers for the support he receive in different ways during the work, especially the then and present proprietor of the Poknapham daily.
As a part of the birthday celebration the octogenarian litterateur cut a birthday cake in public view.
