The 20-year-old y/ung Olympian from Manipur, Devendro has been in a rigorous training session since 2003, under Rana in Pune’s Army Sports Institute, Mundhwa Road Ghorpur.

Laishram Devendro Singh was one of the four Indian boxers, who booked their Olympic berths in 2011 AIBA World Boxing Championship in Baku.

In 2009, Devendro won the “Best Boxer” title in the Federation Cup Boxing Championships at Andhra Pradesh’s Rajeev Gandhi Stadium in Vizianagaram, and the 42nd Youth National Boxing Championship at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu respectively.

“I talk to my father (Laishram Jogendro) everyday over phone and he encourages me to do my level best as he wants me to become the first Olympic medallist from Manipur,” says young Devendro.

Very recently, he won the “Most Promising” boxer title in the 5th Super Cup Inter-Zonal Men National Boxing Championship at Maharashtra’s Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai.

The young “promising” boxer from Yurembam Awang Leikai, Imphal West is eying a gold medal in the forthcoming 2012 Summer Olympic Games (officially the Games of the XXX Olympiad) scheduled to be take place in United Kingdom, London from 27 July to 12 August 2012.

Apart from it%2 he won four gold medals in the following tournaments; the Federation Cup Boxing Championships 2008-09 at Rajeev Gandhi Stadium, Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh (2009), the 42nd Youth National Boxing Championship at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, the 43rd Youth National Boxing Championship at Visakhapatnam, Tamil Nadu.

The young Devendro has earned couple of ‘Best Boxer’ awards in the national circuit during his short career so far.
