MSF admits needy girl to school

IMPHAL, July 2: A needy girl has been admitted to Little Rose Higher Secondary School, Canchipur with the help of Manipur Students’ Federation (MSF).

The girl named Sorikkhaibam Anupama, 16, is the lone daughter of S Sobita Devi who had lost her right leg during the June 18 unrest caused by the ceasefire agreement between the Central government and NSCN-IM in 2001.

MSF president Milan while speaking at a press meet said Anupama has been admitted to class X in Little Rose Higher Secondary School, Canchipur as part of the education campaign by the student body.

He also expressed unhappiness over the attitude of the government which has not given any compensation to S Sobita who had lost one leg during the June 18 uprising.

The school where she has been admitted will provide free education to Anupama up to class XII.

Anupama is a resident of Porompat in Imphal East.
