AMSU appeals for participation at Hunger Marchers day

IMPHAL, August 26: The All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) has appealed the people of the state for participation at the 47th Hunger Marchers’ Day observation tomorrow.

This was said by Thokchom Suresh, president of AMSU at a press conference today at AMSU headquarter, DM college campus.    

The All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) is going to observe the 47th Hunger Marchers’ Day on August 27 at Pishum Ching, Singjamei with floral tribute at 9 am and a public meeting at DM college campus at 11 am, he further said.

All Manipur Students Union (AMSU) has been observing the Hunger Marchers’ Day on August 27 every year in remembrance of the mass protest, where four students lost their lives during the protest, against the then government in the state on August 27, 1965 for causing artificial scarcities of the essential food items in the state.

The four students, Nongmeikapam Pramodini, Laishram Chaobhal, Oinam Nabakumar and Waikhom Nillamani were killed during the demonstration by the security personnel.

Further, the AMSU has also appealed for financial support and informed the general public that the donation will be received by AMSU through donation statement signed by its president or general secretary or convenor of finance sub-committee.

It has also informed that Takhellambam Bishorjit of Yairipok has no connection with finance related matters of AMSU.
