Maoist claim bomb attack

IMPHAL, Aug 21: The Maoist Communist Party, Manipur (MCP) has claimed the bomb blasts in Lamlai area last night.

There were no casualties in the bomb blast which occurred in Napet bridge and Nongren under Lamlai PS.

A MCP statement said, the blasts were triggered by the group to draw out the security forces from civilian areas. A few shots were fired on Lamlai PS from a nearby farm.

In a bid farm to draw out security personnel away from the civilian areas, the group exploded a small bomb under the Napet bridge at around 10 pm.

Further, another IED was exploded at Nongren at 11.30 pm but the security forces did not respond. Altogether 8 bombs were planted in different areas of Lamlai, the statement said.

It said, ther is a post of AR at Laijing hillock and a BSF camp nearby besides a BSF unit and a police commando unit at Lamlai PS.

The MCP statement further said, it will continue to test the courage of the security forces stationed in Lamlai area.
