Northeast exodus: People willing to return to work places

 In Assam, around 15 thousand people who have returned home from other states expressed willingness to return to their places of work or study. Official sources in Guwahati said that railways will start running additional trains from September First to meet the requirement of passengers returning back to their workplaces and educational institutions outside Assam. North East Frontier Railway is likely to run a special train initially between Guwahati-Bangalore on September First. Eight special trains which carried thousands of North-East people from Karnataka, already returned to Bangalore.

The Central team will visit violence hit Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon and Chirang district today to take stock of the relief and rehabilitation measures. The team is likely to meet senior officials of Assam government tomorrow. Meanwhile, state government has appointed Agriculture Adviser to the Chief Minister, Dr.Bhumidhar Barman as Special Representative of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to deal with the relief and rehabilitation measures.

The situation has improved in the violence hit districts .Day curfew has been relaxed between 12 to 17 hours in Kokrajhar,Chirang,Baksa and Dhubri district.Security forces maintain strict vigil to avert any disturbance.
