IMPHAL, Sept 3: Post directive for control of illegal migrants influx by the State home minister, Gaikhangam, Police has been rounding up many immigrants from various valley areas beginning August 30.
A similar drive was carried out in Ukhrul district today According to Ukhrul SDPO, Luthar, the drive commenced from 8 am today within Dungrei and Viewland area. A total of 232 non Manipuris were scrutinized and four individuals were hauled up due to lack of proper authentication papers. They are believed to be of Bangladeshi origin. The SDPO mentioned that due to incessant rainfall, the drive concluded at around 1 pm today. However, the drive will be conducted further tomorrow.
It may be mentioned that after such drives were conducted at Thoubal District, Minuthong, Hatta and Jiribam.
