IMPHAL, Oct 17: The lifts installed at the ENT and Eye department of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) to facilitate patients went out of service for the last three years, while the two lift operators appointed on contract basis remain utilized in other departments as peons.
The two lift operators are Ngairangbam Modhurchand Singh of Khurai Chingangbam Leikai and T Mohen of Kwakeithel who were appointed 2001.
While Modhurchand is being utilized in the RIMS Central Workshop Mohen is functioning sometimes as a LDC or a peon in the Medicine ward.
